Here we are. This is for me the last glimpse ever of the sun over the IJ from my office floor at TomTom in Amsterdam. With, back then, two days of work to go and a gloomy summer, great speed was required to catch this fickle moment.
This blog is an attempt at capturing my spirit as I prepare to embark on a voyage that is going to span 5 months and 4 continents2. And after that, who knows? I certainly do not, and that's the point: Don't plan too much, see what happens. It's high time I reckoned nothing is forever: friendships, a job, a place to live... All of this can disappear at anytime. Fragility makes happiness all the dearer.
Yet, if you are ready to deal with acceptance, if you are willing to break from routine and if you decide to sail away on an ocean of unknown, new things are more likely to float your way. Good things, bad things... all that matters is that you learn to deal with them.
So I quit my desk job - without giving it much thoughts. I didn't want to give myself the opportunity to fret and turn back. Insane? All the way. I wouldn't want it in any other fashion: now I'm standing at the threshold of the most exciting experiment of my life.
A world awaits.

2 Are South and North America a single continent? Wikipedia says it depends on your convention.
